     Theodora Iordanidou was born in 1988 in Edessa, Northern Greece, and took her first music lessons at the age of six. She is considered one of the most active young flutists in Greece and has won numerous music competitions.

     She is curently Principal Flutist at the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra and since 2014 she has been collaborating with the Chamber Orchestra of the Greek National Opera. She occasionally freelances with the Athens State Symphony Orchestras and the orchestras of the National Opera House in Greece. From 2013 to 2014 she was a member of the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra and also collaborated with the Nuremberg State Opera.

     She has been invited to perform as Flute Soloist, Orchestral and Chamber Musician in Greece, Germany (Nuremberg, Munich, Schloss Rheinsberg, Bad Reichenhall, Bronnbach), Luxemburg, Istanbul, Kopenhagen, Amsterdam, Antwerp and Zurich.

     As a Soloist she has performed with orchestras and ensembles such as the Athens State Symphony Orchestra, the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ensemble Resonanz, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, the Nuremberg University of Music Symphony Orchestra and the youth orchestras: Camerata Junior, Pro Musica and the Athens Symphony Youth Orchestra, presenting flute, piccolo and bass flute works and concertos by Vivaldi, J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach, Mozart, Ibert and Zdralek (a world premiere). She has collaborated with conductors M. Nawri, J.-G. Rumstadt, L. Karytinos, V. Symeonidis, D. Semsis, P. Sergiou, S. Soulis.

     Since the age of fifteen Theodora took part in several Greek and International Flute Competitions. She is the recipient of many awards and distinctions, such as First Prize at “Flutemeeting 2005”, First Prize at the 1st Urs Rüttimann Flute Competition 2013, First Prize at the Competition for Woodwinds and Brass Unesco Cultural Club 2016, as well as Second Prize at the Flute Competition of Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra in 2016. Furthermore, between 2010 and 2015 she received scholarships from the following institutions: the Athens Megaron Friends of Music Society (“Alexandra Trianti” scholarship), the A. S. Onassis Foundation, DAAD, the Conservatoire de Musique la Ville de Luxembourg and the Nuremberg University of Music.

     She graduated with Honors from the Edessa Municipality Conservatory in 2007 (class of P. Kelekis) and continued her studies with Carlo Jans at the Conservatoire de Musique la Ville de Luxembourg. She furthered her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg under the guidance of Prof. Anne-Catherine Heinzmann, Henrik Wiese, Daniela Koch, Vera Becker, Anna Zimmermann, where she received both her Diplom (2013) and her Master Degree (2015) in Flute Performance with highest remarks “sehr gut”.

     Theodora attended several flute and chamber music masterclasses given by distinguished professors, such as: H. Wiese, K.-H. Schütz, D. Formisano, P.-L. Graf, A. Lieberknecht, L. Ruoho, G. Pas–Van Riet, P. Drakos, G. Chatzinikos, P. Thalheimer, B. Kujiken and D. Oberlinger (baroque music), I. Matuz, S. Milan and P.-E. Davies.

     She also holds a Bachelor Degree in Musicology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since December 2016, she is a PhD Candidate in Historic Musicology at the School of Fine Arts of the same university.
